Introduced with the rollout of iOS 12, Memoji are a created, customizable version of Animoji. Memoji can be used in FaceTime, or you can send pictures and short videos of your Memoji through the Messages app on your iPhone or iPad. Whether you've sent a Memoji or are the recipient of a Memoji picture or video, you can save that item to your device's Camera Roll so you can use it in the future.
Now let's walk through how to save sent or received Memoji pictures and videos to the Camera Roll on your iPhone or iPad.
Step 1. Open the message that contains the Memoji you want to save to the Camera Roll on your iPhone or iPad.
Step 2. Hold your finger against the Memoji picture or video that was sent to you. A menu will fly up from the bottom of the screen. Be careful not to press so hard that you perform a force touch. If you perform a force touch, the picture or video will display in full screen mode.
Step 3. Tap "Save" in the list of options presented in the menu. The picture or video associated with your Memoji will now be saved to the camera roll on your iPhone or iPad.
Step 4. Close the Messages app, and then tap to launch the Camera app on your iPhone or iPad. Tap the Camera Roll icon in the lower left corner of the screen after the camera app opens. The Camera Roll icon displays the most recent picture or video you've saved to your device, which in this case will be the Memoji you captured. The Camera Roll screen appears, displaying the picture or video you captured of the Memoji.
Step 5. Tap to view the picture or play the video associated with the Memoji that you captured. From your device's Camera Roll, you're now set up to easily share captured Memoji pictures and videos on social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter.
