Steps to Set Up a VPN in Windows 11 on Laptop or Desktop PC:
Open Settings
Click the Start button and select Settings, or press Windows + I to open the Settings menu.
Navigate to Network & Internet
In the Settings menu, go to Network & Internet on the left sidebar.
Scroll down and select VPN.
Add a VPN Connection
Under VPN, click on Add VPN.
Configure the VPN
In the Add a VPN connection window, fill in the required details:
VPN Provider: Select Windows (built-in).
Connection Name: Choose a name for the connection (e.g., "Work VPN" or "Personal VPN").
Server Name or Address: Enter the VPN server address provided by your VPN service provider.
VPN Type: Choose the type of VPN your provider uses (e.g., Automatic, PPTP, L2TP/IPsec, SSTP, IKEv2). Automatic is usually the best choice unless specified.
Type of Sign-in Info: Choose how youβll sign in (e.g., Username and Password, Smart Card, One-Time Password).
Username and Password: Enter your VPN username and password, if applicable.
Save the VPN Connection
After filling in the information, click Save to add the VPN connection.
Connect to the VPN
Once saved, the VPN will appear under the VPN settings.
Click on the VPN name and select Connect.
Enter any additional credentials if required. When connected, a Connected status will appear.
Disconnect from the VPN
To disconnect, go back to Settings β Network & Internet β VPN, select the VPN, and click Disconnect.
