Streaming your video gameplay on Twitch is a great way to grow your online presence and interact with your fans. However, while it is possible to stream to Twitch from your Xbox console, it takes a little bit of work to set up. In this video I'll walk you through what you need to do to set up Twitch up on your Xbox, the adjustments you'll need to make to your console's settings, and how to launch your first broadcast to Twitch from your Xbox.

First let's walk through the steps to set up Twitch on your Xbox.

Step 1. Navigate to the home screen on your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S or Xbox One console, and then click to launch the Microsoft Store. The Microsoft Store screen is displayed.

Step 2. Enter "Twitch" in the search box, and then click the Twitch app when you see it in the list of results. The information screen for the Twitch app is shown.

Step 3. Click "Install All" to install the Twitch app on your Xbox console. You'll return to your Xbox home screen, where you'll see the Twitch app installing.

Step 4. Launch the Twitch app after it's installed. You'll land on the Twitch home screen.

Step 5. Click "Sign In" on the Twitch home screen. A screen is displayed prompting you to open a web browser on either a mobile device or a desktop computer and navigate to www.twitch.tv/activate. You'll also see a code on the right side of this screen. Write this code down if you'll need to move away from this screen.

Step 6. Open a web browser on another device, and then navigate to www.twitch.tv/activate. The Activate Your Device screen is displayed.

Step 7. Enter the code from the Twitch app on your Xbox in the Enter Code field, and then click "Activate." The next screen lets you know that the Twitch app for Xbox wants to access your Twitch account.

Step 8. Click "Authorize." You'll be routed to Twitch Settings screen where you'll see the Twitch app for Xbox is now shown as Connected in your list of devices connected to Twitch.

Now let's look at what Xbox settings you'll need to change to ensure you can stream to Twitch from your Xbox without issues.

Step 1. Navigate to your Xbox home screen and then click the "Xbox" button on your controller to open a menu.

Step 2. Press the "Right Bumper" button to highlight your profile icon at the top of the menu, and then click "Settings" in the list of options. The General screen is displayed.

Step 3. Choose "Account" in the menu on the left side of the screen, and then choose "Privacy and Online Security" in the list of options on the right side of the screen. The Account Privacy and Online Safety screen is shown.

Step 4. Choose "Xbox Privacy" on this screen, and then "View Details and Customize" on the next screen. The Xbox Privacy screen is displayed.

Step 5. Choose "Online Status and History." The Online Status and History screen is shown.

Step 6. Make sure the "Others can see you if you're online" section is set to "Everybody."

Step 7. Press "B" to navigate back to the Xbox Privacy screen, and then choose "Game Content" in this menu. The Game Content screen is displayed.

Step 8. Set the options for both "Broadcast Gameplay" and "You can share content made using a connected camera" to "Allow."

And finally, going forward when you want to stream to Twitch from your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S or Xbox One console, you just need to do the following.

Step 1. Launch the Twitch app on your console and then click "Broadcast." The Broadcast screen is shown.

Step 2. From the Broadcast screen you can adjust your general Twitch streaming settings on the right side of the screen, such as your camera position if you have a connected camera, where the broadcast bar is located, whether the mic and party chat are turned on, whether game sound is turned on, and more. Additionally, you can also change your notification message that goes out to your Twitch followers when you start streaming.

Step 3. After everything is ready just click "Start Streaming" to start streaming from your Xbox console to Twitch.
