How to Test your Internet Connection On PS5 Pro for Wifi or Wired Lan
8To test your internet connection on a PS5 (or PS5 Pro, once available), whether using Wi-Fi or a wired LAN connection, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open Settings
Turn on your PS5 and sign in to your account.
From the Home Screen, navigate to the Settings menu (the gear icon in the top-right corner).
Step 2: Go to Network Settings
Scroll down and select Network from the Settings menu.
Under Network, select Connection Status.
Step 3: Test Internet Connection
On the Connection Status screen, select Test Internet Connection.
This will start a test to check both your Wi-Fi or LAN (wired) connection to ensure it’s working correctly.
The test will evaluate:
Connection Speed (download/upload speed)
Connection Type (Wi-Fi or LAN)
IP Address connection
NAT Type (important for online gaming and voice chat)
Step 4: Review Test Results
Once the test completes, the results will display on the screen:
Connection Status: Whether your PS5 is successfully connected to the internet.
Download/Upload Speed: Your current download and upload speeds in Mbps (important for gaming and streaming).
Connection Type: Whether you're using a Wi-Fi or LAN connection.
NAT Type: NAT Type 1 (Open), NAT Type 2 (Moderate), and NAT Type 3 (Strict) affect multiplayer performance.
