How to Fix if you Can't Connect to the Internet on you PS5 PRO (Easy Method)
If you’re having trouble connecting your PS5 Pro to the internet, here’s a detailed guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Your Internet Connection
Ensure your router or modem is turned on and functioning properly.
Test your internet on another device, like a smartphone or PC, to confirm that the connection works.
2. Restart Devices
Restart the PS5 Pro:
Press and hold the Power button until the system shuts down.
Wait 1-2 minutes, then power it back on.
Restart the Router/Modem:
Unplug your router/modem, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in.
3. Test the Connection on the PS5
Go to Settings - Network - Test Internet Connection.
This will provide information about:
Connection status.
Download/upload speeds.
NAT type.
4. Reconfigure Network Settings
For Wi-Fi:
Go to Settings - Network - Set Up Internet Connection.
Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password again.
If your Wi-Fi network doesn’t appear, select Set Up Manually and ensure the SSID is not hidden.
For Wired Connection:
Plug an Ethernet cable directly from your router/modem to the PS5 Pro.
Go to Settings - Network - Set Up Internet Connection - Use a LAN Cable.
5. Change DNS Settings
Go to Settings - Network - Set Up Internet Connection.
Select your current connection and choose Advanced Settings.
Set DNS Settings to Manual and enter:
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS)
Or use Cloudflare DNS: 1.1.1.1 (Primary) and 1.0.0.1 (Secondary).
6. Check NAT Type
A strict NAT Type (Type 3) can cause connectivity issues.
Go to Settings - Network - View Connection Status to check your NAT Type.
If it’s Type 3:
Enable UPnP in your router settings.
Alternatively, manually forward ports:
TCP: 80, 443, 3478-3480
UDP: 3478-3479
7. Update PS5 System Software
Go to Settings - System - System Software - System Software Update and Settings.
Select Update System Software and ensure your PS5 is running the latest version.
8. Check for Router Issues
Distance: Ensure your PS5 Pro is close to the router for strong signal strength.
Interference: Minimize physical obstructions and electronic interference.
Router Firmware: Log into your router’s admin panel and update its firmware.
9. Reset Network Settings on the PS5
Go to Settings - Network - Reset Internet Settings.
Reconfigure your network after the reset.
10. Contact Your ISP
If the problem persists, reach out to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to:
Check for outages in your area.
Verify your network’s performance.
