About this video: This video is a complete guide on how to play CurseForge Minecraft mods. We do this using the CurseForge App. This will allow you to easily install mods, including library and compatibility mods without having to download them individually. So, without anymore delay, here is how to get Minecraft mods using CurseForge!
To get started, we will need to download and install the CurseForge App. You can find a link to the CurseForge App in the description above. That will take you to our complete text guide on getting CurseForge. On this page, click the “Download CurseForge” button to go to the official CurseForge download page.
On the download page, click the “Download Standalone” option, and the CurseForge Installer will start downloading.
Once you have the CurseForge Installer downloaded, double-click on it, and the installer will open. Click next a few times, and agree to the CurseForge terms of service, assuming you agree to them. Then, click Next a few more times, and the CurseForge App will install.
When CurseForge is finished installing, the CurseForge App will open. To install CurseForge Minecraft mods, we will need to click on Minecraft and click “Continue” to get CurseForge setup for Minecraft.
After that, click the “+ Create” button and name your profile. Then, select the Minecraft version you want, the mod loader you want to use, and click “Create”. You will now have a profile on your modpacks tab. Click on it, and you will land on a “Content” page.
On this page, click the “Add More Content” button. You will now be able to see mods that will work with your CurseForge installation. These will all be for the correct version of Minecraft and for the launcher you selected.
You can click the “Install” button on a mod you want, and it will be installed to your CurseForge installation. You can change the filter from mods to shaders, resource packs, or any other Minecraft content CurseForge has to add those to your installation as well. They will also be for the correct version by default, so no worries there.
What if you want to add a mod to your CurseForge installation though, and it isn’t in the CurseForge App? Well, in that case, go back to the My Modpacks tab. Then, right-click on your installation. Select “Open Folder”. This will open the folder where all of your mods from CurseForge are. You can add additional mods into the mods folder, and they will work with your CurseForge installation. Just make sure they are for the correct mod loader (Forge, Fabric, or NeoForge), and for the Minecraft version you selected. If not, they will not work.
From here, hover over your installation in the modpacks tab. Click the “Play” button, and the Minecraft Launcher will open. You will need to login to the Minecraft Launcher, and it is perfectly safe to do that as it is the default Minecraft Launcher just open through CurseForge.
Once you login, click on Minecraft: Java Edition in the left-hand side, and then click the Play button. Click Play again to confirm you are playing Minecraft with CurseForge mods, and Minecraft will now open up with your mods installed!
