How to use the plot elements of Star Trek: TNG's Pen Pals in a TTRPG
Here we have one of the most....strange Prime Directive focused stories. But how to use it in a TTRPG? Well this one has an alien culture... we don't meet, and actually avoid. We meet ONE alien from this culture, the one who was beaming distress calls into space seemingly because she was desperate and had nothing better to do. But that's just part of the plot hook.
the other part is a geological mystery. SEVERAL planets in this region of space have destabilized and this isn't the first one to do so. Some of the others already exploded, what are you going to do now?
As a side note: you could do a plot involving preventing planets from exploding even if they AREN'T inhabited. Dilithium is a resource valuable enough to fight wars over after all. Having a minable planet explode would be economically disastrous.
