We continue our exploration of this little laptop from Hewlett Packard with a 45711E (512KB of system RAM and modem), a 2225B inkjet printer and a 9114B 3½" single floppy drive, all using the HP-IL interface to communicate.

In comparison my original machine is a 45711B (128KByte of system RAM and no modem).

They all run on batteries ... different form factors, of course ... we can't use the same, interchangeable pack now, can we? ;)

The battery in the printer has no model number that I could see - consists of six "C" size cells (I think), bonded in series and with a simple rectifier circuit. No doubt some Googling will come up with the battery pack model.

{Edit: the battery pack model is 82199A according to the reference manual:

The battery pack in the disk drive was an 88014B, which actually contains the same type of Panasonic LCR-226P lead-acid battery that the 45711 itself uses. These batteries are no longer manufactured but replacements are available, so looks like I'll need to order a few.

The computer itself comes with a 1MB memory expansion drawer and an EPROM software drawer. From what I could see, nothing earth shattering interesting ... Lotus 1-2-3 and some other boring business software. The memory can be organised as 512KByte of system RAM and 1024Kbytes of RAM (or electronic) disc.
