The replacement batteries for the original Panasonic LCR-226P lead acid batteries ... Powersonic PS-628 ... arrived today. These are 6V batteries with 2.8Ah capacity (apparently), up from the Panasonic's original claim of 2.4Ah.

Replacing the battery in the 88014B (the pack for the 9114B floppy disk drive) was very simple.

Replacing the battery in the 45711 itself was a little bit more involved, but I was able to do it. I re-used the original metal strips but connected them to the new battery terminals using a lot of flux and solder.

Using one of the 8VAC chargers (original US via a stepdown transformer), the 45711 was about 30% charged after 2½ hours. Will leave it to continue charging over night.

I did try to get it working with the disk drive but no luck - pulling the disk drive apart will be the next job.
