A favourite debate from 2016: In the 20th century we came to see language as radically more important than a mere vehicle for ideas. It was the framework that made thought possible. But do animals not think? And can't humans think outside of language - knowing the way home for example? Is language not so central after all or is there really nothing outside of the text?
