9Full gameplay longplay / playthrough / walkthrough of the world arcade revision of Irem's classic and rather hard submarine shooter. The RG team best run is about six credits on the Saturn port, but that was some time ago. This is one shmups where the end of level bosses are much easier than their stages that go before them.
A rather slow paced shoot'em up that gives you three weapons over two buttons, a frontal attack weapon and a north and south weapon, that deploys depth charges as well as launching rockets or gun fire into the sky above you. Tactical use of all three weapons is needed to master the sea and sky as you battle your way through the game's six stages. Making it a fairly short title, fans of the game will note some of the Metal Slug team work on it and the art style uses the same design. The music is fairly run of the mill and very forgetable, certainly not Irem's best soundtrack.
A good game that could have been balanced a bit more, to help it reach greatest. Certainly as far as aquatic based arcade shooters, it really is the best out their. Oddly the home ports needlessly changed the level order around for no clear reason.

In The Hunt was ported to Sega Saturn. Sony PlayStation and Windows 95 in Japan, it was also included in IREM Arcade Hits on PC by Dotemu. The game is now available for download on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch as part of the Hamster Arcade Archives range.
