Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is the controversial Ubisoft remake of the Konami arcade game from 1991. That by all accounts was alleged to cut Konami out of the royalties for the game. The game is now delisted since 2011, but seems to have been part of an ugly spat between Konami and Ubisoft. Ubisoft 3D remake was a mess of game that got so many things wrong with the classic arcade scrolling beat'em gameplay, you could write a novel on it. From incorrect hit collision and hit boxes, to no invulnerable animation when taking damage and bosses having far too many invulnerable frames during certain moves. The screen tearing which is some of the worse in gaming history. Rather ugly 3D graphics and a pretty dire soundtrack, that was added in at the last minutes to replace the original tunes according to some reports as Ubisoft were unable to use the original music, a possible Konami rights issues? The game is solely based on the arcade version and doesn't include any of the extra SNES content.

The original 1991 arcade game is a true classic and Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello deserved a modern updated of the arcade game far better than this. It seems Ubisoft didn't understand the genre and could have done with Konami's input to get it right. If you want to play Turtles in Time you would be better off with the SNES home port or the altered arcade version included in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Mutant Nightmare. Krang got away in the full run as we played a bit to defensive in his second fight, there is a rematch at the very end of the video.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled was delisted from Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in 2011. It seems doubtful due to the number of rights holders involved this will ever be reissued. It was also available on PlayStation 3 (PS3) before being delisted.
