Grand Kingdom - PlayStation 4 - Intro & 30 minutes of gameplay full mission [UHD 4K60]
The unofficial sequel to Grand Knights History on PSP which former Vanillaware employee Tomohiko Deguchi also directed. Grand Kingdom, pretty much takes the format and gameplay of Grand Knights History and updates it for the PS Vita and PlayStation 4.
Grand Kingdom is a strategy game with RPG style combat and mechanics. The core of the game, sees you building up a mercenaries force and sending them off to war, to fight for one of four countries in exchanges for riches and rewards from that country.
The game itself is very heavily menu driven as you hire mercenaries to fight for you, review the on going war and decide your next mission. Missions take place on battle map with chess pieces representing the characters, enemies and various events you will encounter as you move around the map. Events ranges from traps, treasure, hidden enemies, artillery batteries, resupply wagons, field medics and hidden routes. So you never quite know what will be in store for you on each map.
Battles are the one area that has been upgraded from Grand Knights History which had combat on a fixed grid. Where as in Grand Kingdom you take turns to move characters around a small field and attack, defend or use abilities and spells as needed. Each unit class has its own attacks, abilities and perks, allowing you to fight battles in many different ways pending on your play style and the team you use.
A great strategy title with thousands of hours of gameplay tucked into it. There's a huge online mode that sees you battling against the other nations for control of the continent. The only real drawback with Grand Kingdom is that it is not a quick game to play as you can see with this video, which shows only one mission. So if you don't have a lot of free time to play games, this is not one for you.
