Indianapolis 500 (Amiga) - a Playguide and Review - by LemonAmiga.com
Hi, welcome to one of the earliest, fastest and perhaps the most technical racing simulation on the Amiga. I wont give away the very best setup, but we will take a look at a very easy setup for beginners, and then a few crashes!
PRODUCTION NOTES:
Video Captured: 7.May.13 (practice lap), 28.June.13 (setup), and 18.Sept 13 (crashes)
Editing Started: 18 Sept. 13.
Vid Completed: 4 Nov. 13.
Version: 6 Rev: 2
This game was recorded cold after not playing it for many years. The edited video was littered with verbal bugs; for some reason I kept saying 'One forty-five' instead of 'forty-five seconds' which is how long it takes to complete a slow lap. The colours are a little confusing when it pops up with the setup stats for each vehicle, which I forgot to fix. Other than those points it was not so hard to make this video; although it did take six whole revisions to make, so it took quite some time to fix the bugs. Of course I could have practised a lot more and designed the very best setup possible, but I wanted to leave some challenge for the casual player so I made the setup good enough for 9th and left it at that.
Anyone who's played Indy 500 will also know the pain of missing the pit box, and perhaps getting stuck in the pit lane too - as I did in the video. The 'Die Enemy Scum!' and 'Ice-Cream' lines were the last things to be added.
