The land seemed peaceful now, so the Nameless Hero put his sword aside. However, his adventures were not over – he had to begin a perilous journey when he lost his true love, the beautiful painter Aiko. Armed only with his wits, his valor, and a magical paintbrush, he would soon discover how the pen can be mightier than the sword.
Inked is a hand-drawn puzzle adventure set in a mythological world of beautiful ballpoint pen landscapes, inspired by Japanese folk tales. As the Nameless Hero, explore 10 different minimalistic worlds searching for your lost love Aiko, using your magical paintbrush to solve puzzles in a heartwarming story that will move and shake you to the core.
"Draw" your own journey in a stunning ballpoint pen-drawn world
Explore 10 different hand-drawn paper worlds full of beautiful landscapes, fauna and flora, and awe-inspiring architecture that will marvel you at every step.
The path in front of you is full of threats and perils that you’ll have to overcome in order to get your loved one back. Use your magical paintbrush to draw geometrical shapes to clear obstacles and solve puzzles. Each puzzle will connect you more with the protagonist and draw you deeper into the world created by The Artist.
A multi-layered narrative that breaks the fourth wall
Following the Nameless Hero’s steps, there is a mysterious voice – the Artist, the person who drew the world where the adventure takes place. Your story and his are connected in many ways – and your journey will touch your hearts and change you forever.
A heart-warming story to comfort your soul
Inked is a wholesome narrative-driven puzzle game, a heart-warming story about loss and hope in a time where we all need some comfort.
The art style developed for Inked is so elegant. It's clean and simple and at the same time really original, recognizable and unique. The splashes of color and the world design is just astonishingly beautiful. It gives the whole game and playing experience a great atmosphere to wonder in.
The controls are so simple that you might be fooled into thinking that Inked is a simple game. Don’t make that mistake. One can quickly discover the amount of effort and attention to detail that went into the game’s design.
The music and sound design really get you immersed in this lovely adventure.
For those who are only interested on a take of the graphics and atmosphere the game gives off, here is a quick review on that specifically.
Graphically the game offers a unique and very calming aesthetic with the pen to paper art style it very beautifully showcases, the music isn't anything crazy but offers a wonderfully calming atmosphere while progressing through the story the creators are taking us through.
Now, visuals aside - the game has a few mechanics that I do like, one being the movement of objects with a sort of teleport by a simple drag and drop, and the one that I personally love which is the interaction with the 4th dimension being the creators themselves, attempting to hinder the main characters journey and increase the struggle along the way.
Inked is beautiful. It's sad. It's heartwarming. It makes me wanna cry. It amazes me. Its music calms me. Its sound makes me chuckle (cute little footsteps). This is, by far, the most imaginative, innovative masterpiece of art I have seen since FEZ and Braid. The way it's done is superb! I've seen no bugs so far, I enjoyed every second of it and only little gripe I have is right thumbstick can be really slow on moving the objects. It would be cool if it could accelerate as you move it. But don't miss this beautiful work of art that has captured my heart
Worth playing for the art style and for creative mechanics and mostly fun puzzles. Many creative puzzles, many difficult puzzles. Only objectively bad puzzle was the cactus press -- time limit is way too short.
If you play this, be prepared to be frustrated with the controls. In fact, DO NOT PLAY WITH A CONTROLLER. Keyboard/Mouse (Alternate) with a Qwerty keyboard is the only tolerable way to succeed at the game.
Most liked puzzle: cloud machine -- creative and fun.
Most hated puzzle: gator cage -- boat controls are already bad, but the cage hitbox and physics are AWFUL.
