The moves I make at the beginning are just to unlock the Portrait Puzzle.

The hardest part of this setup is getting all three cards into your hand. The easiest way to make this happen is by having multiple cards with the Magpie trait. Alternately, as I've done here, wait for the Moon battle and get both Greater Boons, the Magpie Eye and Ambidextrous. Sacrifice Cockroaches onto two cards, one with a cost of 1 Blood, the other with a cost of 3 or less Bones. The Stoat and the Stinkbug are perfect for this, and you'll always have them when you start a new round of the game (except the first loop).

It's also worth pointing out that the Stinkbug hard-counters the Moon, as does any card with Death Touch (like an Adder or Long Elk)

Just as a matter of trivia, this was performed on a "deathless" run. This is the second time I've beaten the Moon and I've never died (i.e. been defeated and had a Death Card created. I have lost the first candle a couple of times, not yet sure if that's possible to avoid).

If you're wondering how I defeated the "Too Fast, Too Soon" Bear Walls, I used a couple of different methods. From what I can tell you encounter 4 Bear Walls. The first is in a minor random encounter where the game unlocks the two Candles. This is an expected loss and I took it. In the demo you could beat it but it soft-locked the game because it didn't know how to proceed if you didn't have your candles, I don't know what the status is in the finished version.

The second and third Bear Walls are on the first encounter of the Angler and Trapper/Trader boss fights. To get past these you can use any card that hits for at least 5 damage. The easiest of these to work with, in my opinion, is a Mothman grown from a Strange Larva. Also Urayuli or a Grizzly or Great White powered up at a campfire can work, but those can be hard to come by your first run through Act 1 whereas a Strange Larva seems guaranteed. You need to have the creature already on the board when the Bear Wall spawns, then use the Scissor item to cut the bear immediately in front of your creature for a OHKO. Scissors can be hard to come by, so it's important to reach the second Item store with all 3 items so you can receive a Pack Rat card and try to farm scissors with it.

The fourth Bear Wall is the second time you encounter the Trapper. I assume this is coded as the "second run", regardless of death or victory from your previous run. For this battle I used the Knife (which becomes available on the second run) and a pair of Pliers, which deals an immediate 5 damage and instantly wins a round. On the third run there will be no Bear Walls. This is when the game intends you to kill the Moon for the first time.
