Inscryption - Using the Knife to break the game, and final Bear Wall
In this segment I'll show the final Bear Wall for the sake of completion. Originally I was just going to show the fight itself, but I decided I really wanted to demonstrate just how game-breaking the Knife is. See, since it's a plot element necessary to complete Act 1, there's a 100% chance you'll receive it every time you enter an Item Refill station. Since it deals 4 damage, this means you only have to deal a single point of damage on turn 1 to immediately win any encounter. If you combine it with Pliers, you don't have to deal any.
The Caged Wolf is easiest to bust out if you get him as soon as possible and use the next encounter. It's only two Coyotes with no additional cards. This is a perfect setup to just allow one to smash on the Caged Wolf until it breaks. Additionally, you'll be working with a smaller deck at this point (note that I left the Skink and Ant cards to deliberately keep my deck small), so drawing the Caged Wolf quickly should be easy.
I'm a big fan of an unkillable Stinkbug for this second phase of the game. You don't get Totems until the third phase, so your only major upgrade from the initial gameplay loop is Bone Cards (and access to Ouroboros, if you get lucky). Stinkbug makes an excellent damage soak in general, and making it unkillable grants an easy way to convert 2 Bones to 1 Blood at any point, effectively reducing the cost of stronger beasts.
I also make an unkillable Stoat, which isn't as valuable here. Normally I get him a few Campfire buffs and he winds up being a really strong card, but since I'm abusing the Knife so much here, I have to go out of my way for Item Refills and miss most of the Campfires. However, the unkillable Stoat+Stinkbug combo works great for the Angler fight, if you play it right.
At 11:15 and 22:25 I get an opportunity to take Ouroboros. Since I'm specifically trying to demonstrate how powerful the Knife is, I avoid him, since he's too good of a card.
I have to get through one battle in the Wetlands without a Knife because of map placement. This usually happens, sometimes multiple times. Overall I find that only having a single normal Knife-less encounter is a pretty lucky break.
I have another bad draw with the Boons here, and can't get the Magpie/Ambidextrous combo I prefer.
After completing this and reaching the game's "third loop", you'll unlock Totems and the Angler's Hook. The Angler's Hook is only marginally better than a pair of Scissors. It can be nice to steal a Great White from the Angler himself during his phase 2, or a Strange Frog from the Trapper if you keep it for that long. For the most part, I find it just wastes space, though. If you look at it as "starting every cycle with a free pair of Scissors" it's not bad, but without the risk of further Bear Wall ambushes from this point, that's not a big win. Totems, on the other hand, are the easiest way to break the game wide open, especially if you have the Squirrel head from 2:09.
