Inscryption - Playing Act 2 as Leshy pt4. Beasting Magnificus
The Slime Mage is about as easy as minions get. I'll be curious to see if he poses a larger challenge in other decks, but for the most part it's a simple matter of finding a way to deal 1 damage to break his Mox. He only has two, and then you've essentially won the fight. I think he's designed to be easy since he's the only thing blocking access to the Training Dummy, Act 2's primary method of "grinding", if you're so inclined.
The Impaled Mage is a little tougher. You can still attack her Mox cards to instantly kill her Mage Knights, but if you also attack her Ruby Golems you'll create a new Mox for her, so you've got to be selective about when to let some damage slip through (or chump block if you've got the squirrels). I get an early Mole Man here and he's excellent in this fight, so things go quick and easy.
The Lonely Mage can definitely be tricky, but I get lucky here. With an early Hawk on the board opposing his Mox, I'm getting a baseline 3 damage every turn. He's eating up two spaces with his own Mox and playing 1 Health cards, so there's practically no way he could have won once that Hawk landed.
Magnificus is kind of brutal for a pure Beastly Deck. His gimmick takes away the traits that make the Mole Man, Wolf Cub, Mantis God, and Cat special. One of your best attacking units becomes the 3/1 Hawk, which is fragile and loses flying, so at 2 Blood it's pricey. My intended strategy was to get an Elk (2/4) into play against his Magnus Mox. Over the course of four turns this card will deal 8 damage to the Mox. If you can have at least one turn where the Orange Mage is dead, then the Elk should be able to kill the Magnus Mox in 5 turns. From there it's a matter of surviving the incoming damage and offsetting it with your own somehow. This is pretty tough to manage, actually, given that the longer it takes to get the Elk out, the more damage you've likely already taken.
Instead I get a Urayuli off the draw here. I threw him into my deck as a sort of wildcard, and decide to run with it. I need the next card I draw to be a Squirrel, thanks to the Rabbit sigil on my Bullfrog. I actually should have played Urayuli one turn sooner than I do, not sure what was in my head. I guess I was concerned about the Gem Fiend coming down, but he couldn't have killed Urayuli.
Magnificus' whole setup can't outplay Urayuli by himself, so once it lands its initial blow on a blank square to buy me breathing room, the fight is effectively won.
