We find out why Vlad hates Max. He killed Vlad's girlfriend, but which one. Remember all of Vlad's phone calls we overheard. Who could it be? In a way, Vlad is Max's mirror image, just like that old TV show we keep seeing, "Address Unknown." Max killed Vlad's girlfriend, so he's going to kill Mona, and Max, of course. In that split second that Vlad shoots Max in Mona's apartment Max has to relive a nightmare of all of the mistakes he made, the wrong paths he took. When Max wakes up, Mona's holding him. Vlad and Vinny were all part of the Inner Circle, but Vlad decided he wanted to take over, and he's been on a quest to take out all of the Inner Circle members one by one. Only one of them is left: Alfred Woden. So Max and Mona head to Woden's mansion to save the old man from Vlad. When they get there, Woden has locked himself in his panic room. Max and Mona fight along side each other. The closer we get to Woden and Vlad, the crazier things get. Choices are made, and we have to live with the consequences. Max's story can only end one way, tragic.
This game was developed 20 years ago, and while you can tell from the graphics, the storytelling in cutscenes, in level design, and in game mechanics, the voice acting, the music, the twists and turns, and playing the same story from multiple perspectives still make this one of the best games of all time.
