The European Championships of 2016 was expanded from 16 to 24 teams and this almost guaranteed that the best of the best of European football would appear at the tournament. However, the one missing team was the Netherlands, a team that earned bronze just two years prior at the World Cup in Brazil. Iceland, who pipped them to qualification, earned a surprise quarter final with France. Would the Dutch earn the same success?
