Yesterday we travelled back to Tokyo on the Shinkansen bullet train and took a bit easier for the day.

Day 9 was here and we decided to have a look around Tokyo a bit more this time as the first few days were just spent walking around the DisneyLand and DisneySea theme parks.

There was a temple next to our hotel, the Zojoji Temple which was quite large and had a few surrounding buildings and attractions. A nice peaceful start to the day without having the crazy rush of trying to find the right platform to catch the right train with our big tour group.

We didn't really have any plans today so we decided to try checking out the Tokyo Imperial Palace as well but as it was a Friday it was closed. We decided to go anyway and check out the gardens and when we got there we realised they had a free tour of the grounds so we decided to join in. Unfortunately it was quite hard to hear the tour guide with the explanations as the crowd we were in was English speaking and they had a separate tour for the Japanese.

After that we decided to do some more exploring so I suggested we try and check out Harajuku as I had heard of the famous style of the Harajuku girls. We did a bit of online searching and decided to head to Takeshita Street, famous for it's clothing shops along the street.

This was a really packed street with lots of young Japanese people walking along and heading to crepe shops or catching up with friends to go clothes shopping. The weather wasn't very kind to us and the heavens opened up at the end of the day so we all got a bit soaked from the rain and then decided to head back to our hotel.
