Jerp plays Return of the Obra Dinn pt.1 - I think everybody died? Just a hunch... (2020-11-06)
2Taking up the reigns of an investigator (which I only later found out was for insurance claims) and hopping onto the Obra Dinn in order to discover the fates of its passengers & crew. I went in relatively blind - I somewhat knew that there was some mystery afoot and had seen at least a screenshot showing the game’s aesthetic a while back. I didn’t even know that the majority of the game was spent aboard the ship, or that instead of interacting with any remaining survivors, you instead travel from snapshot to snapshot, piecing together major events and searching within for clues as to who’s who and how did they die (or did they?).
Game’s surprisingly cool - it has the same kind of minimal hand-holding that I appreciated with Outer Wilds, and incidentally they also share the general trend of arriving after everyone’s dead and gone.
