I want to voice my thoughts about the game, both good and bad. So, first I'll mention that Hyperion Gorge is an awesome level that is fairly long and has a lot of high-flying moments, both on and off the beaten path. The locale definitely reminds me of Mesablanca from the SSX series.

But then, I want to bring up a recurring issue with the level design in Jet X2O and compare it to this game's main influence, SSX Tricky. In SSX Tricky, the levels usually saved some big jumps for the end and gave you that extra chance to make up for your tricking if you couldn't do it before. I think Aloha Ice Jam was the only level that was still a hassle, even with the showoff additions. Even technical levels that kept you lower to the ground for the first half (Merqury City / Alaska) opened up into some huge jumps by the end that would save your showoff runs if you needed them to (admit it guys, how many people finally got gold on Alaska from that last jump with the fan and the 5x multiplier?). Jet X2O meanwhile eases off on the ramps at the end of the level and there's usually a certain point in the track where you know you've gotten most of the points you CAN get. Not going to make the score requirement with what you have? Better waste time squeezing small trick opportunities out of the remaining river left, or restart. It's the exception when a level keeps going big till the end, rather than the norm - the next level, Mesotec, is probably the best example of keeping big air opportunities going till the end so I didn't want to have this discussion on that level. But aside from that, and maybe some levels with a smaller ramp or two near the end (this level, Neotropic, etc.), most levels don't have great opportunites to do special tricks or combo tricks in the last 30 seconds. You need to have gotten your points before that point.

Onto Karin Nielsen: She's alright. Pretty average. She's the 'very-balanced, very-boring' character just there to fill space on the roster whose personality traits are... she's a bit haughty? Also also Swedish? That's enough, right? Her default outfit looks like she's wearing mom-pants. Not really a fan of that. But with the tight-fitting pants of the alternate outfits? Reminds me of a Sir Mixalot song...

Her special tricks are alright. She has 3 set-animation tricks and one hold trick like Luc had. The first one (Primadonna) is probably the best 'amount-of-points-for-the-time-it-takes' trick in the game. She scores 15,000 with it in the time other signature tricks of the same length only get 6-10k. Her hold trick (Superstar) really tilts the craft to the right. Whirlwind is a really fast trick and is a quick 5,000 points you can do on a short ramp or do at the end of a jump if you still have Mega Mode. TheSplitUp is okay. Not really efficient but not terrible. It sounds like she should be good for tricking but her slower base tricks mean you need to be a bit more careful with her than you could be with Taylor or Luc.

Her signature craft, however - Valkyrie - is awful. It trades incredibly low handling for a high base speed, but first off: everyone's signature crafts still have speed as a priority, it's not like you can't upgrade someone else's craft to get as fast while being more manageable, and second: her handling is so godawful that it's almost unplayable. Watch my Expert mode run where I genuinely can't turn well enough to not bump into walls and I struggle immensely to go through a boost buoy or get on a ramp. The expert run took me literally 30 minutes or so because I would just screw up key parts of my line due to the awful turning. If you play Karin's career, you'll be dumping all your stat points earned from expert mode races into that craft's handling to try and make it tolerable. AND it's color matched to her mom-workout-gear outfit? Yuck sister, yuck.
