Mesotec is a big step up across the career modes in terms of obvious shortcuts that save a lot of time and also in terms of trick points required. After the previous tracks ease you into the idea of tricking while racing, Mesotec throws a ton of huge jumps at you and expects you to make something of them. If you don't know some of the great shortcuts, you'll end up in the back of the pack, fighting to get back to a decent spot. You should try to frontrun this course, especially if you need to use the huge trick opportunities near the end to catch up or finish off your tricking efforts.
To Eva del Toro: She's your jetski-loving goth GF a decade and a half before that was a meme. I don't really know what 'weight' the Balance, Strength, and Weight stats have in terms of staying up and moving when bumping into stuff, but Eva stays up pretty well given her smaller stature. Like Karin did, Eva has 3 set-animation special tricks (VampireX, SpiderKick, TheCoffin) and one hold trick (TheCrow), where one of the set-animation tricks (SpiderKick) is really quick. You can get a quick 5,000 points with it just jumping out of the water or during a cool wheelie (anyone else noticed I've been showing that off? That's an awesome exploit). None of her special tricks really tilt the craft around at all, and it's nothing that can't be offset with some flipping about. Eva is a very solid character.
Her craft: You know, it's crazy that her signature craft has such low base stats overall. As you saw, I could level up the Tsunami across 6 pro races to just have BETTER stats than the Darkthorne does by default. But on its own, the Darkthorne is a reliable workhorse, staying straight and getting you down the course. Like Taylor's signature Renegade craft, the handling is somewhat loose, but not awful like Karin's was. Again, if you want to throw yourself around a turn in one motion and don't want to overcorrect back and forth, the Darkthorne is set up for that type of feel. It looks like it should under-perform but if you're good at the game, it does everything you're looking for it to do. Still, it's odd that Eva has the equivalent of a Nissan Altima as her signature craft when everyone else has sports cars.
