Jigsaw Woodworking Project - Headphones Stand
Simple headphone stand project from some waste plywood that formed dividers of a packing crate. I thought about using them for some shelves but were just too thin. I got a set of headphones recently and needed a stand for them so a good upcycle project here that you can make yourself or for presents.
Lay out your headphones and draw inside a rough outline of the holder. Try and get the curves to flow, youre only going to have to draw one half. Use the jigsaw to cut it out, flip it and trace it onto the other side and then cut that. Im using the Worx axis and it gives a nice controlled and smooth cut.
Take your time, once its cut then sand it so its smooth and give the outside edge a run over with some glue or varnish to protect it. Write TEMPLATE on it as well so it doesnt get used up by mistake. From this we can make all our others.
Repeat cutting until youve got about 6 or 7 depending on how thick your plywood is.
I used PVA woodglue in the glue up, basic white glue and at the moment im using evostik. Try and get the bottom as level as possible and then clamp up and leave overnight in a warm enviroment.
The circular flap wheels on an electric drill make the sanding so much easier, the wheels ive got are a little coarse however but that does mean youll sand off any excess really quickly.
Youre pretty much there, what you do to finish them off is entirely down to you and your imagination.
