Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan has revealed Sony will begin ramping up PlayStation 5 production over the summer.

In an interview with Wired about the in-demand console – which has sold 7.8 million units as of March 31 – Ryan apologised to gamers for the shortages in supply – due to parts needed in making of the console being unavailable – and announced that Sony will begin increasing production of PS5 over the summer.

He said: “We’re working as hard as we can to ameliorate that situation [and] See production ramping up over the summer and certainly into the second half of the year, and we would hope to see some sort of return to normality in terms of the balance between supply and demand during that period.”
