The Infinite Bomb Jump technique in Super Metroid - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
9,942In Super Metroid for the SNES, there's a way to gain infinite height using consecutive mid-air bomb jumps. It's appropriately called the Infinite Bomb Jump, and there are multiple ways to perform this useful technique. In this video I showcase two methods for the IBJ.
Obviously to perform this trick, you'll need the Morph Ball and the Bombs.
The first method is to morph into a ball and place a single bomb. Then, place each sequential bomb just before the previous bomb explodes. This method is very reliable, even if it's the slowest way to gain vertical height. Using this method, I was able to grab an Energy Tank that normally requires the High Jump Shoes or the Ice Beam.
The second method is to place bombs in a much faster rhythm. In fact, the rhythm is very similar to the percussion/metronome sound that you can hear in the Lower Norfair BGM. But this method will allow Samus to gain vertical height much faster. It was hard for me to narrate AND keep rhythm at the same time, but I was still able to reach the ceiling in a very tall room using this faster IBJ method.
