I'm back with the rest of the Duna Probe mission in Kerbal Space program.

Last time we got a probe out to Duna's orbit, but not where Duna actually was. We performed a burn that will have us intercept Duna after one orbit around the sun.

So we begin here by time warping for an orbit, until we meet up with Duna. Once we enter Duna's sphere of influence, we notice that we will be orbiting the wrong way around Duna, the opposite direction that Ike orbits. So we preform a 'burn' with our ion engine to modify our trajectory so we will orbit Duna the opposite way. As we approach Duna we gather some science.

Once we get near Duna, we perform a burn to get captured into orbit around it. This turns out to be a burn for over 6 minutes, due to the ion engines low thrust. We complete the burn, and then do a follow up correction so that we are in an orbit basically over the equator, and setup for an intercept with Ike. We start this burn, but we stop it a bit early when we get an earlier intercept with Ike.

We swing out, and back towards Duna on our way to intercept with Ike. We get real close; only 10 km above Ike's surface, and gather what science we can. After passing that close to Ike, we are on an escape trajectory away from Duna, so we perform a large burn for about 8 minutes, that not only keeps us in Duna orbit, but will actually have us enter Duna's atmosphere!

We enter the atmosphere and run the rest of the test that we can, including an atmosphere analysis, temperature, gravity and materials bay and goo canister tests. Once we exit the atmosphere and extend our solar panels again, we transmit the science back to Kerbin and then perform a small but so that we don't enter the atmosphere again.
