Minecraft Minecart Stations More Than 15 Tracks Part 1
This was going to be the lats part of my Minecraft Minecart Tutorials covering stations with more than 15 tracks, so I split it up into two part. This is part one and covers 30, 64 and 100 track stations.
We take the basics covered in the previous videos and I show how to combine the basic switches for stations and make larger stations with more tracks. the beginning of the video quickly recaps those basics before moving on to larger stations.
The first large is combines two 15 button latch arrays to make one larger 30 button latch array. I then show off 3 different ways it can be hooked up to track switches to give you a 30 track station. One as tracks on two levels, and the tracks a block apart using normal T switch tracks, one has the T switch tracks in pairs, with half the tracks coming out the front of the station and half coming out the back of the station, with the final station using a drop arrangement allowing the exiting tracks to be right next to each other. All of these stations have control lockout while the cart is leaving the station and empty cart detection.
I then show off how to combine 2 spinner selectors to make a 64 track station. The first spinner controls how far east you travel before turning on to a track heading north on 1 of the 8 tracks, with the second spinner controlling how far north you travel before turning off 1 of the 8 tracks to the track heading to your destination. this design does take up a bit of area to build, but is relatively simple to build, except for the lockout circuit which is a bit complex.
Finally for this part of the video, I show off a 100 track station which has several improvements over the 64 track station, which actually allows it to be built in approximately the same area. The biggest improvement is instead of having 10 lines by 10 lines, which would take a while to get to the end of if you selected the furthest options, the layout is set up as 4 sets of 5 tracks by 5 tracks. This is done so that it takes you much less time to get through the track switches. It is done by looking at what track you selected. if the tens digit is 0-4 your get sent to the left side, while if it is 5-9 you are sent to the right, then a similar process is done for the lower level or upper level for the ones digit of your selection. Once you are on the correct side and level, then you only have to go through a 5 by 5 grid, past a maximum of 8 tracks switches (for a total of a maximum of 10 switches to any destination). Without the initial left / right, up / down switches, you could have to go past up to 18 track switches to get to the last of a 10 by 10 grid.
At the very end, I show off a keyboard number pad like destination entry with a 7-segment display to show the chosen number. I have two of this hooked up to the 100 track station to make an obvious and easy to used input and display for the station.
In the next part I'll show off a 64 track station that is even quicker to get through that is powered by gravity and even larger stations, including a new smaller 64 track station and a station with more tracks than I thought would be possible to build in reasonably sized building!
