Information:
As a tribute to human ingenuity and engineering we thought we would start our own Kerbal Space Program as an analog to the steps humans had taken to get into space for real. Not just so we could teach our viewers about our own history but as an exercise to our pilot to get him used to playing the game.
Except for a dummy run to ensure the staging works as designed you will see our missions as they happened in chronological order, successful or not. How many Kerbals will die in the making of this series we do not know but it will all be worth it in the name of science.
Now there have been a large accumulation and amalgamation of inventions that had led to our first journeys into space but for us the best place to start is the Flying Bomb.
Created by the German Luftwaffe in WWII during The Blitz. The Nazis were losing too many Luftwaffe pilots to British fighters and anti air defenses so they created a bomb that didn't need a plane to drop it, it was its own delivery system. The most common Flying bomb was the V-1 also know as the Buzz Bomb or Doodlebug. However the allies soon learnt to listen out for their tell tail engine sound and found ways to take them down before they could reach their targets.
The V-1 was occasionally launched from a large plane in flight but was usually launched from a ramp. We couldn't figure out how to build a working ramp in this game yet so for now opted for detachable gear which would, in theory, provide the same style of takeoff.
