Kid Icarus Uprising - Boss Battles Easy, V100 Magnus Club, no Powers/Drinks, sub-20
Whaddyaknow, Magnus Club can get into the V100 No Powers/Drinks sub-20 club.
I was expecting this to take more than a few tries, because Magnus Club has of course the lowest projectile range in the game, and of course, the Spin Shot technique and the Parry Chargeup mechanic both have limited use for Magnus Club. Magnus Club does at least deliver with the power, though. Sufficiently to get it the results I'm looking for anyway.
I got good RNG with Tanatos, who rolled all 3 of the desirable forms for speedrunning, but Magnus Club also has to worry about Phoenix, Aurum Generator, and the 2 Chaos Kin fights being irksome with the luck. You see I tried getting creative with Aurum Generator to mitigate RNG issues, but I mess it up (Aurum Generator can be hit up to 7 times on a pass with the left Grind Rail if you're wondering) and of course I get bad rolls with the rail electrifying so I'm having to deal with another pass that could have been avoided with better firing. I'm glad I didn't mess up my own plan with Possessed Palutena though, because that fight's potential for bad luck with speedrunning is too high if it's allowed to develop.
Oh, and yes, definitely mix in Melee Dash Attacks where you can. Their added damage output is far from superfluous.
I like to think that Magnus Club is a Skill Gate Character done right. Obviously, it's more mobile than the First Blade while still being something that makes Skyscraper Club look like a Frail Sniper. Of course, it has only above average traits, which on a Melee Tornado allows the opponent to consider playing to their strengths to limit Magnus Club's options and send it straight into some nasty traps. I also pointed out how Magnus Club can't use Spin Shot or Parry Chargeup as well as other weapons. Spin Shot relies on dash attack mobility for usefulness, which Clubs generally don't have, though Magnus Club can still use it for other purposes. Parry Chargeup.....on the fastest charging weapon type in the game? Yeah, Dash Shots manage the clear majority of recharge during the movement cooldown itself, and even the Neutral Shot gets about half of it during the movement cooldown, so Parry Chargeup is completely redundant on the Magnus Club. Still, Magnus Club is a capable enough weapon type that would no doubt reward creativity, and I wouldn't even be surprised by the usage of the Spin Shot to using the Back Shot to have a blockade-style approach.
