Kid Kong - Atari ST (Gameplay, Let's Play)
Unless you're living on Mars, you've probably worked out by now that this is an obvious Donkey Kong clone made for the ST by Dave Munsie IN 1992. I got the game on a cover disk for Atari ST Review magazine.
Overall it does a reasonably good job of replicating Donkey Kong with some solid controls, however the second level is obviously missing and the title is missing the animation of the ape carrying the girl (Pauline) to the next level.
Personally if you are going to do a remake of something I'd much rather see original levels being created in additional; such as what Nintendo did with the 1994 Game Boy title, because we all know by now that the ST is more than capable of porting 80's arcade games to the system perfectly. Having said that there is one original level after the sizth stage you get a moment where Kong is blowing coconuts out of his mouth and you have to avoid them. But that's it. It's stuff like that which the game should have included more of and thus why it is a little disappointing for me.
If you're interested in seeing more Atari ST videos then feel free to subscribe or check out my playlists, I also do lots of other consoles.
