Jetpac - Atari ST (Gameplay / Let's Play)
Jetpac is a fun little arcade shooter that was ported to the Atari ST in 1992 by Budgie UK. Originally it was a ZX Spectrum game written by Chris Stamper and the graphics by Tim Stamper, who would later go on to create Rare, who these days are a division of Microsoft Studios.
The game sees you play as a spaceman as he tries to rebuild and refuel his ship whilst various enemies and obstacles fly at you from the edges of the screen. The parts are dropped from the ceiling at random points in the level and part of the challenge is to try to get to them whilst dodging the enemy threat. There are many different types of enemies, all of which give a slightly different challenge which helps to keep you interested and reduce the feel of repetition.
Overall its a cool arcade style game that I'm not sure how long it is because I have never been able to beat it. It's possible that it loops over and over again, which is common for 80's games.
To be honest I was actually going to do a video on Forgotten Worlds, but I got so frustrated with it that I ended up falling back onto this game as a little side distraction and that exactly what it is, a quick five to ten minute thrill that you'll return to for a quick blast or simply just to ease your blood pressure.
If you're interested in seeing more Atari ST videos then feel free to subscribe or check out my playlists, I also do lots of other consoles.
