I'm very late to the Killer Instinct party. Some would say 10 years too late as the game was a launch window title for the Xbox One. I of course went with the PlayStation 4 for that era of consoles so I didn't have the opportunity to play KI until this year when I finally got a PC. I have to heavily thank my editor @godo808 for helping me out with that. Anyways, during EVO 2023, it was announced there was going to be an update for the now 10-years-old Killer Instinct. An update now of all times seems incredibly weird to me. It has me wondering about the future of the franchise and I think it's a safe bet that Microsoft are working on a brand new Killer Instinct title and this update is going to more be a proving ground for balancing, plus as a potential judge of interest for a Killer Instinct 2. We all know thanks to an article from 2021 that Microsoft wants to release a sequel to 2013's Killer Instinct (link will be lower in the description and in a pinned comment.)
