Ugh, this fight is just plain AWFUL! Unlike the other giant bosses up until this point that had a clear strategy if you look hard enough, this boss I actually have zero clue what the developer's intent was. It feels like there is no efficient way to beat Skoll that isn't a major cheese strat or stalling for 20 minutes spamming fire. Even his Stagger Endurance feels inconsistent and near impossible to make use of. Since I refuse to use Links on bosses for this playthrough, this was the best option in my eyes.

The fight is mostly manageable for the first couple health bars, he is open to a few attacks after his dashing attack and you can counter him but once the fight goes into the second phase it becomes total chaos. When he has lost about 3 bars, he will howl and spawn a bunch of small wolves that will fly around. The wolves will completely swarm you and it feels like the fight basically becomes impossible to avoid damage. Maybe if Re:Mind makes major changes I will try and do this without cheese but not in the game's current state.

Since I am not using food, I had to really try and push my equipment to make this work. +6 is the current highest you can level keyblades at this point and Hero's Origin gets magic at +6 so +5 is the best you can do. On top of that, I synthesized a second Orichalcum Ring which should be doable by anyone since there is an Orichalcum chest just before this boss. With only two Orichalcum Ring and a Phantom Ring I am one point short of being at the current max strength with Hero's Origin.

Setting up the loop is a bit tricky but it really comes down to how much damage you do. You want to drop Skoll down to his second phase HP gate with the final hit of Wrathful Flurry. If he gets hit while below his HP gate he will immediately break out with his howl and you will miss your chance. The loop is simple, block the howl to get one charge and then critical block the tail to get the second charge and let out a critical Wrathful Flurry. You need to keep really close to Skoll so he will keep doing the attack and to keep the mini-wolves away but if you get too close his tail will reach behind you and you will Wrathful Flurry in the wrong direction. If your really good at keyblade switch and you get lucky with the mini-wolves you might be able to get away with this loop with a lower strength stat but it's difficult without food.
