Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix 100% Part 12 - Olympus Coliseum [1/2]
0We’ve now made it to Olympus Coliseum, unlike in the first game where it was mostly a place to battle in tournaments, which is still a thing in this game more on that later, this game has you exploring more of Olympus, specifically the Underworld portion and it has a bit of a gimmick at first: You can’t use your Drive Forms nor your Summons in the Underworld. You encounter Hades briefly, but none of your attacks can hurt him, which is followed up by a combat encounter where you have to defeat all the enemies whilst avoiding Hades’ attacks.
If you’ve played Final Fantasy X, you’re in for a treat for this party member, unfortunately he goes away for a while after you battle Cerberus so make the most of it. Cerberus for all intents and purposes is easier than he was in the first game since he’s designed a little differently than last time since he’s not the end boss of the first visit this time around. But he's fun still at least. Counterguard is a useful skill to have as it allows you to retaliate after you successfully block, hitting anything near you and can interrupt some attacks.
After meeting up with Herc and doing a bit of training from Phil, you receive the Final Mix exclusive ability Aerial Dive, which makes Aerial Sweep near useless from this point onward, and it's time to get the Olympus Stone back so that the curse of the Underworld can no longer hinder you and proceed to rescue Megara. Unfortunately Hercules can’t help you as he is preoccupied with a match against the Hydra.
