Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix 100% Part 17 - Port Royal [1/2]
Now we’ve made it to Port Royal, ladies and gentleman, Curse of the Black Pearl was popular around the time this game was released. I don’t have too much to say story-wise as this level follows the general synopsis of the movie, so if you’ve already watched it then you sort of know what to expect for the most part, like most worlds in the series since the plots of most Disney worlds are abridged retellings.
Would you believe me if I said in the original game that the original battle theme for Port Royal was kinda bad? The HD collections actually remix the battle theme to sound more similar to the actual movie’s theme. The original game's theme on Ps2 sounds like this:

I took the opportunity when Jack’s introduced to use his Limit and do a bit of Synthesis grinding with the Cannon Guns until I got a good couple of Blazing and Bright Stones.
New enemy types are introduced exclusively for this level in the form of Undead Pirates of three types that have a different assortment of weapons, their gimmick is that in the moonlight they are vulnerable to attack, which can be a bit annoying if they don’t come over to you at a spot where there’s moonlight, they give a good amount of EXP though, to make things varied you can also cast magic on the Pirates to varying effects, Blizzard is great against them as it freezes them in place for a couple seconds. Thunder makes them walk slowly and Fire deals good damage to them, but they also deal damage to the other enemies with their pants on fire.
When you’re ambushed by the Barbossa’s crew on the Interceptor towards the end of the level, that's as good a time as any to use Chicken Little. What I like to do is go to the back of the ship and proceed to cast Fire on any enemies that Chicken Little magnetizes, I bought a few Ethers off-screen so that I don't run out of MP. If you get hit by any attack that knocks you into the air then you’ll lose the medallion you’re carrying and you’ll have a set time to get it back if one of the Pirates grabs it, luckily there’s a marker above the head of whoever holds it. Clearing this gives you Aerial Spiral, an essential ability for closing the gap with air combos at mid range.
