Knowledge and Attitude of Farmers towards Soil Testing

Layman Abstract : Soil testing helps farmers understand what nutrients their soil has and what it needs for better crop growth. It guides them in using the right fertilizers instead of applying them blindly. A study in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, found that most farmers had limited knowledge of proper soil testing methods, especially for fruit plants and crops. However, a majority (72%) believed soil testing was important for better yields, and 76% disagreed with the idea that it was a waste of time or money. The study suggests that more training and awareness programs should be conducted to help farmers adopt soil testing, which can also reduce excessive fertilizer use and promote sustainable farming.
