Layman Abstract: This study focuses on developing reliable pH standards for biological and medical research using a special buffer called TAPSO. Buffers help maintain stable pH levels in solutions, which is crucial for experiments involving biological fluids like blood and plasma.
Scientists previously determined key properties of TAPSO, including how its pH changes with temperature. This study expands on that by measuring pH values (paH) of TAPSO solutions at different temperatures (from 5°C to 52°C) under conditions similar to human blood. The research includes both pure TAPSO buffers and TAPSO with added salt (NaCl) to better mimic physiological fluids.
To ensure accuracy, the team used electromotive force (emf) measurements and a mathematical model called the Debye-Hückel equation. They also compared TAPSO’s pH behavior to a well-known blood buffer standard. The results confirm that TAPSO is a reliable pH reference for clinical and pharmaceutical applications, making it valuable for biochemical assays, drug development, and medical research.
By providing consistent and accurate pH values, this study helps improve the precision of experiments in biological and health sciences.
