KOF 2000 failure on a NEOGEO #2 ;_; Another Iori! w/ Bao, Lin, Joe
Finally noticed that if I turn supers off in the AES KOF 2000's options menu, I can then use my "Omega" consolized NEOGEO MVS to switch the game to MVS mode to get it to show the difficulty level at the bottom of the screen, while still enjoying the AES version's disabling of the super meters! (Which I do to spare my eyeballs the super moves' screen-flashing effects. O.o)
So anyway I set myself the goal of recording a video where I reached at least the finals (match 6) while using Iori's hidden "Another Iori" maniac striker.
My randomizer assigned me the team of Bao, Lin, and Joe to accompany him. This worried me a bit because I've never really managed anything with Bao or Lin, and my Joe can be awfully, awfully streaky--mostly 'cause I always get too frisky with spamming all his special moves. : P
I was actually kind of interested in seeing what I could do with Bao, though, because he is kind of fun to use, despite being another annoying high-pitched kid voice character. And I tried playing him like I try to play most of the cast, concentrating on their normal moves and not overusing their special moves--but now I'm not so sure Bao can be played that way; like some of the other Psycho Soldier team (*cough* Athena *cough*)--and even way more so than the others, actually--he seems intended to rely extensively on the nutty "psycho" special moves that send him bouncing around the screen like a big rubber ball; without those, he's just a really short person with no reach. I think. Anyway, that's how it worked out here once I got to the later stages (stage 4 Terry 10:33 specifically ;_;). : P
Lin is normally proportioned, thank goodness. He's got some nice pokes and slashes; I still have no idea how to do the various autocombo or chain combo moves CPU Lin always seems to hit me with. And my general inexperience with Lin ended up being a significant problem when coupled with my general inexperience with Bao! I really blew it with Lin against Kensou at 16:38, for instance: with time and health ticking down, I could have finished Kensou probably with a throw after he whiffed his uppercutty kick thing way up into the air--but instead I ended up doing some kind of knee move that also pushed me most of the way *through* Kensou--so not only did I not do enough damage to finish him, but I ended up in a spot I did not expect, got confused, and he struck back while I was befuddled--the final hit needed as time ran out. : P
And then there's my Joe. Still don't have much of a handle on his normal moves for some reason--so when push comes to shove, I get scared, resort to spamming all his special moves--and that doesn't go well.
