Koihime Enbu [恋姫†演武] Game Sample - PC
"Koihime Enbu" (恋姫†演武 or "Love Princess Martial Arts Demonstration") is an all-girl fighting game based on the relatively popular "Koihime Musou" adult visual novels by BaseSon, released for PS3, PS4 and PC (Steam) in 2016. Most of the game's titles are an allusion of Koei's "Dynasty Warriors" games (being Sangoku Musou in Japan), which is appropriate enough, as the game is a re-imagining of the legendary "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" novel, but utilizes Japanese naming conventions for the characters instead of Chinese. It's an expansion to the previous fighting game, "Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Taisen * Sangokushi Engi" released in 2013 for PC and PS3. While that game was a little unpolished (and features mostly useless strategist sub-characters), it showed potential, emphasizing strategy over outright deep play mechanics, as almost every move has a delay which can lead to a counter-attack and landing crucial blows are key to victory.
This game adds three additional characters to the roster, an improved interface, modified graphics (sharper visuals, but less frames of animation and few animating background elements unlike the previous game... kinda disappointing), and additional features. While the game is still pretty basic compared to other fighters (characters have different traits, but feel kinda samey), it's quality is a little surprising overall considering its origins are adult and NSFW. If you've ever played Street Fighter or almost any other fighter, you know what to expect: each character has a few basic moves that can be upgraded (EX) at the cost of some "tactics" gauge, super move(s), an ultimate move, etc.
The main stand-out feature is "Hougeki Combos" and "Special Pursuit Chance". Hougeki Combos are started by using moves that cause a critical stagger, adding properties to certain attacks that wouldn't happen normally, leading to a pursuit chance. This is the main damage-dealing element of the game, as the game lacks "fancier" mechanics like air dash, air block, evasive maneuvers, etc., and bears a lower pressure game than most modern fighters, making it feel more old -school... it's not a bad thing, and has its own place in the fighting realm. However, there are still plenty of opportunities to construct neat (albeit kinda cheap) combos.
The presentation is okay overall... I like the music and the art isn't too shabby. Being released in English is a definite plus. This is a video of the game in action. Enjoy.
