This video is about the mauryan empire and the founder of mauryan empire Chandragupta maurya Bindusara Ashoka, Battle of Kalinga, Ashoka's life after the Kaling war. Main features of Ashoka Dhamma. Ashoka's work for the welfare of the peope and about the administration. Chandragupta maurya was the founder of Mauryan empire and very brave king and established capital at patliputra. Chanakya was his guru. Bindusara suceeded Chandragupta Maurya in 297 BCE and ruled to 272 BCE. Ashoka(272-232BCE) One of the great ruler in the world history. He conquered the state of Kalinga to complete hus rule over almost whole India.
Battle of Kalinga:- It was a very fierece battle. Huge loss of life and property. Cries of widows and children deeply affected ashoka's mind and pledged never to resort to war. The Kalinga war proved to be a great turning point in Ashoka's life.
After the Kalinga war he adopted buddhism, spent the rest of the life in propogating and preaching it in the whole world, he advised his sons and grandsons not to conquer new contries, go for dharam vijay, Ashhoka's teaching engraved on rocks and stone pillars in local languages Kharosti, Prakrit, Greek and Aramaic.
Featres of Ashoka Dhamma:- Everybody should serve the parents care and love for all living creatures, follow and adopt the path of truth. Be kind to workers, Respect the elders, avoid arrogance, animity, sacrifice of animals, not fighting for religion and land.
Ashoka work for the welfare of the people. Planted trees, dug wells, hospitals for people and animals, orphanage and old age homes were made.
Administration:- The supreme power was in the hand of the king. He was the head of the military, judiciary and civil administration. He has a council of mininsters to assist and advise him. Many more officials like amatya, Mahamatra, Adhyakhsha, Purohita, Senapati and Yuvraj. There was a very efficient espoinage system. The whole empire was divided into small units. The city administration was under nagaradhyaksha and village administration was run by the group of officers.
