Realm of the Earth:- There are four realms(Domain) of the Earth. Lithosphere(Land):- Lithos is a greek word known as stone or rock, Hydrosphere(Water), Atmosphere(Air), Biosphere(Life),
Lithosphere:- The upper surface of the Earth consisiting of layer of rock material, It is found both in continents and on ocean floors, The continents formed 29% of total crust of the Earth and rest 71 % covered by oceans. The height of a place on the land is measured from the sea level.
Continents:- The large land masses above the sea level. There are seven continents. Europe, Antarctica, Africa,Asia, Australia, North America and South America.
Asia:- It is a largest continent in the north of asia lies Arctic ocean, East- Pacific ocean, West- Ural mountain and Ural river, South-Indian ocean. It is a vast store house of agriculture and mineral resources.
Africa:- It is the second largest continent of the world and hottest continent. In the East of Africa lies Indian ocean, North- Mediterranean, North East- Swez Ethamus, South- Southern ocean, west- Atlantic ocean. This is only continent through which the equator and both tropic of cancer and capricorn pass thorugh Africa. It is also called dark continent. Larger part of Africa lies in Northern Hemisphere and smaller part lies in Southern hemisphere. The famous Nile river which is known as second largest river of the world flows in this continent. The world largest desert known as sahara desert also lies in this continent.
North america:- It is the third largest continent of the world. In the west of north america lies pacific ocean, north-arctic ocean, East- Atlantic ocean, South- It is connected to the South America by a piece o fland called the Ithamus of Panama. It has a panama canal which joins the pacific ocean with Atlantic ocean. Canada and USA are the two economically developed countries of this continent.
South America:- It is the fourth largest continent. In The East of South America lies Atlantic ocean, West- Pacific ocean, On the western side is present longest mountain chain of the world called Andes mountains. The world largest river the Amazon which runs from the Andes mountain on the West and the Atlantic ocean in the East.
Antarctica:- It is the fifth largest continent. It lies in the Southern part of southern most hemisphere. In the north of Antarctica lies Southern ocean. The whole continent is covered with thick layer of snow so it is called white continent or frozen continent. Due to extereme cold climate the land is not inhabited by Human beings. Scientist of some Countries established research centres. India has also two research centres named Dakshin Gangotri and maitri.
Europe:- It is the sixth largest continent. In the north of Europe lies Arctic ocean, west- atlantic ocean, South-Mediterranean sea, East- Ural mountain. Europe has two seas black sea and caspian sea, The alps are the highest mountain of Europe.
Australia:- It is the smallest continent. this continent lies completely in Southern hemisphere. in the West of Australia lies Indian Ocean. East -Pacific Ocean. South- Southern Ocean. Australia is also known as Island continent and oceana.
