This video is about globe, map, history of map making, componenets of map, types of map, plan and atlas.
Globe:- Globe is a true representation of the Earth. It is three dimensional view of the Earth. It shows shape of oceans and continents correctly. It gives us idea about latitudes and longitudes. It helps us to knoww about rotation, revolution and tilting of Earth axis. Limitations- It is difficult to carry around. It give us limited information.
Map- Map is a drawing of the Earth on a flat surface. It is two dimensional. Map gives us detailed information. It helps us for showing large as well as small areas. It is easy to carry. Sciece of map making is called cartography. Experts of map making are called cartographers.
History of map making:- The earliest map was made in 2300 B.C in mesopotamia Iraq. It was made on a clay tablet. Eskimos made maps by sewing animal skins of different colours. The egyptians engraved the bondaries and features on metal plates. Ptolemy was the father of the map who first proved that Earth is spherical in shape.
Components of map:- Scale, Direction, Symbols, Colour.
Types of map:- On the basis of scale these are categorissed on large and small scale map.
Political map, physical map and thematic map.
Plan:- A plan is a layout of building a factory, a pplayground etc.
Atlas:- An atlas is a collection of maps of the world. The continents and selected countries.
