This video is about major landforms . There are three major landforms . Mountains , plateaus and plains .

Landforms - the differences in the height and slope of the land surface is known as relief for landforms .

Mountains - A mountain aur Hill is an uplifted portion of the land .

Peak - uppermost portion of a mountain or hill forms peak .

Range - most of the mountains are arranged in a line called range which has a series of peaks a n d valleys .

Old mountains - those mountains which have worn by the forces of nature and do not have sharp peaks .

Aravalli range in India
Ural mountain in Russia
Appalachians in USA

Young mountain - this mountain have very high and sharp peaks covered with snow recently formed near about 2 5 million years a g o .

e g - The Himalayas in Asia , The Alps in Europe , Andes in South America and Rockies in North America .

Plateaus
A plateau is an applied with rugged surface .
( a ) the average height of a plateau is about 600 metres from the sea level .
( b ) nearly 40 % of total land surface of the Earth is plateau .
(i) Plateau of Tibet is called roof of the world height is about 5,000 metres above the sea level .
(ii) the Deccan Plateau in India
(iii) the Arabian plateau
(iv) the Brazil plateau

Plains : - It is a relative leelo lying flat land.
(a) the average height of a plane is between 100 to 200 metres above the sea level.
(b ) Plains are densely populated
(c) fertile soil
(d) ideal climate

Formation of plains : -
Most of the plains in the world have been formed by river . The rivers carry away large amount of silt and sediments from the mountains and deposits in the low lying areas to form plains .

e . g ( a ) Northern Plains of India have been formed by the Ganga river.
(b) China plane have been formed by yellow river.
(c) Egyptian plain - Nile river
(d) Iraq plain - Tigris

Importance
1 . Lithosphere is the basic source of minerals essential for the needs of human being . Minerals like various metals ; oil etc are extracted from lithosphere.
2 . Lithosphere has the soil cover on which the crops are grown which give us food and oxygen .
3 . Lithosphere being the land mass support all these structures like Building , roads , rail etc .
4 . Lithosphere support the plant and animal life which help to main ecosystem in nature .
