Revision of Ch-1(The planets, Earth and the Solar system) class 6th D.A.V.
This video is about universe celestial bodies, galaxies, stars, constellation, the solar system, the evolution of solar system, the Sun, Satellites, the planets, Earth a unique planet, the moon our nearest companion, phases of moon and other celestial bodies.
Universe:- The vast limitless space which includes all heavenly bodies.
Celestial bodies:- All the objects in the sky the Sun, The moons, the planets etc.
Galaxies:- The huge cluster of billions of stars. Name of our galaxy is Milky Way(Aakash ganga) Shape Spiral. Side view orion arm.
Star:- Made up hot gases generate heat and light. Self luminous.
Light year:- Distance travelled by light in one year.
Proxima centuari:- Nearest star to the Earth other than Earth.
Constellation:- Group of stars that makes a recognised pattern. Ex:- Ursa major(Great bear) Indian name Saptrishi Mandal. Ursa Minor(Little Bear).
The Solar system:- The sun and its families which includes all celestial bodies.
Evolution of Solar System:- About 4.6 billion years ago there was a giant cloud of gases and dust called Nebula. It cooled and gained very fast rotation. The eight balls of gases and dust separated from Nebula changed into planets and the central changed into a star known as Sun.
The Sun:-Sun is a ball of gases. Sun is about 1.3 million times bigger than Earth. Distance between Earth and Sun is about 150 million kilometres.
The planets:- These are heavenly bodies that revlovew around the Sun. They do not have their own heat and light.
Terrestrial planets:- Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars.
Jovian planets:- Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.
Earth a Unique planet:- Due to Balance heat and light, presece of atmosphere, presemce of liquid water. Shape of Earth is spherical.
Satellites:- The heavely bodies that revolve around the respective planets. They do not have their own heat and light. They receive heat and light from the Sun.
Mercury, Venus no satellites. Earth has one satellite. Mars has stwo satellite. Saturn 53. Jupiter 50, Uranus 27, Neptune 13
The moon our nearest companion. Moon also reflects light that they receive from the sun. Distance of moon from the Earth near about 3,84,000 km. The period of rotation of moon on its own axis and revolution around the Earth is same i.e. 27.3 days so we see only one side of the moon. It has no atmosphere, So it becomes extermely hot during day and extremely cold during night.
Phases of moon:- Different shape and size of the moon. completely bright phase if new moon, completely dark phase full moon.
Other celestial bodies:- Asteroids, meteors, meteroids, comets.
