This is one of my more personal videos, spurred by viewers' requests that I talk a bit about the languages I use in my scholarly work and how I came to learn them. I discuss how I -- typically in rather idiosyncratic ways -- learned French, German, Latin, and Classical Greek, and how I didn't manage to learn Portuguese, Italian, or Mandarin.
