Late-Game Minecraft 195 :: Another Diagonal Path Through the Village
Back to work on the village improvement project! We build a new path that extends diagonally out from the village centre to a farm plot in the far north of the village. We also bring down the section of the village wall that separates the north district from the ocean!
As we head down the hill that the village fountain is on, we pick up some string! It may have been from a spider that was killed by an iron golem, or a cat that had suffocated in a block. Hopefully it was the former, we would hate to miss any of the village cats!
Anyway, we start work on a new village path! We connect two of the paths that we had already built with a new one that is perpendicular to the both of them, before it heads diagonally towards the northwest. While digging out the blocks for the path, we also dig away any grass paths that we can see!
There are a lot of grass paths, and most of them have generated over sand! As a result, we have to dig up a small patch of sand to boost the amount of sand that we have in our inventory. We fill in the pit that we created with the spruce planks that we had gathered from the village wall!
Before long, the sun is setting and we place down our white bed to sleep for the night. A librarian villager seems to head for our bed before he walks past us! We have not noticed anyone who was homeless in the village, so we shouldn't need to worry about villagers using the beds that we put down for ourselves.
At the storage chests, we organise the items a little because they are getting quite messy! We move all the dirt and grass blocks to another double chest since we use these blocks often when terraforming. Then, we continue working on the new diagonal path!
More digging later, we finally have the entire outline of the path! We fly up to take a look at it and it seems mostly alright. Near the intersection with the other paths at the village centre, we dig out some sand to make the path appear smoother before starting to add in the spruce planks!
We place more lanterns around the village and make a few tweaks to the landscape. Specifically, we shift around some sand and grass to make the boundary between the two look better! An iron golem spins around on the corner of a grass block, but we are not sure what it is trying to do!
Another night falls as we are working and we sleep before continuing. In the morning, we also cover up some deep water in the village that is in the north! We place some lighting at the four corners of the northwestern farm plot, before we decide to tear down the wall around the entire northern district, since it is facing the beautiful blue ocean!
It is quite a long stretch of wall, and it takes a while to chop away all the spruce planks! But once we are done, we are rewarded with an unparalleled view of the sea. However, we can now jump out of the village from the edge of the northwestern farm plot! We will have to lower the level of this farm as well.
That would be a task for the next episode though! For now, we lower one corner of the farmland and the bottom of the central water stream before the sun sets and we fall asleep. We have also run out of oak fences for the wall replacement project, so we will have to get more of those from the mountain base! We dig away a little more path blocks in the north part of the village before ending the episode.
