Stardew Valley 166 :: Upgrading the Trash Can
29One piece of advice that is often given to new players is to upgrade your tools in the winter! We have already upgraded all our tools to iridium, but we have never upgraded our trash can, not even once! Since Clint is always asking us to help his business out, today we visit him to get a copper trash can!
After we wake up, we check the television for the weather and daily luck! Unfortunately, the fortune teller predicts the worst luck for us today. I guess we should not do so much mining then! We plant the Qi Beans that we collected yesterday, as well as some new Qi Beans that we get from the seed makers.
Finally, it is not snowing today! It is only a brief respite from the chilly weather though, since tomorrow it is going to snow again. We check on our fish ponds and collect oak resin! After visiting the mushroom cave, we interact with our animals in the barns and coop.
We plant our Qi Beans in the soil and place a void egg into the mayonnaise machine. Then, we take the minecarts to the mines! Actually, we had wanted to visit Clint to get our trash can upgraded, but we venture into the mines out of habit!
While dealing with the horde of enemies, we inadvertently complete the wizard's quest when we kill two putrid ghosts! The last ghost drops a rare iridium band as well. I guess we could visit the wizard later for a free 500 gold! When we went to the mines, we did not even remember to take the items we need to upgrade the trash can so we head back to the farm!
After picking up 5 copper bars, we take the minecart to the correct destination this time and visit Clint at his shop. It has been over a year since we last upgraded any of our tools! Clint must be very glad to see the only customer he has in the entire town.
Even without the snow, it is far too cold in the valley! We head to Ginger Island to warm up a little, even though there is nothing to be done on the island farm. Instead of taking Willy's boat back to the Stardew Valley beach, we try out our new water obelisk!
At the beach, we pick up the seashells and coral that have appeared on the sand! We interact with the villagers in town to find out how everyone is doing. Sebastian and Sam seem to be having a good time indoors! At the Stardrop Saloon, we stock up on fresh tortillas!
We aren't sure what Jas and Vincent are doing as they are merely standing outside of Haley's house! Anyway, we travel west to the Cindersap forest to chop down all the trees. Another good tip for new players, harvest all the wood and stone you can in the winter!
Just after 10 pm, we stop by the wizard's tower to collect our quest reward! We then make our way to the secret woods with a very full inventory to dig the artefact spots and pick up some holly. Back on the farm, we plant Qi Beans, smelt ore in the furnaces and brew more pale ale in the kegs before we turn in for the night.
