Late-Game Minecraft 208 :: Caves & Cliffs Part 1!
2We are quite thrilled to be playing on the newest Minecraft update! Today we return to the mountain base and check out some of the new blocks and items, including raw iron, raw gold and candles! We prepare to go exploring and to find new chunks, so we can experience all the new additions to the game!
When checking our chest of materials from road digging, we notice that the blocks of coal ore look quite different! The texture of our clock has changed as well, and we notice the shading of blocks in the inventory appears slightly darker! We place down some of the coal ore blocks to get a better look!
We decide to head back to the mountain base and see what else has changed! On the way, we clear some floating birch leaves and harvest some sweet berries. At our storage room, we check out all eight types of original ore blocks to see the changes in their textures!
We also try using a Fortune III pickaxe to mine iron and gold, and are ecstatic when we get the new raw iron and raw gold items! These are used to craft the new blocks of raw iron and raw gold, which seem like colourful and unique additions to the range of available blocks for building!
Next, we go to our underground trading hall to mend our tools! We were also hoping to see some new trades, but I guess we will need to find new villagers for those! While crafting red dye, we unlock a new recipe for red candles! Candles would be a great addition to our mountain base.
However, we are not sure how to craft an undyed candle! Before leaving the trading hall, we buy some lanterns since they are another marvellous source of light for our Minecraft world. Back at the storage room, we craft some torches and scaffolding to replenish the supplies of those items in our inventory.
When we pick up the string needed, we unexpectedly unlock the recipe for plain, uncoloured candles! What perfect timing it was, and the recipe seems quite cheap as well! After crafting them with honeycomb from the underground farm, we place some candles on our dining table for decoration!
We keep the remaining candles in the chest that stores honey and beehives. We head outside but the sun begins to set, so we go back to the storage room to turn in for the night. Then, we start planning for our expedition to newly generated chunks, so we can find even more new items added in the update!
Bringing out a few maps from the chest, we eventually decide to head north, seeing that the area to the east of our mountain base is mostly ocean! We head back to the trading hall to buy some empty maps from our cartographer. We check our chests and notice we are out of poppies to trade with!
We head to the iron farm to pick up more poppies. Since it is a new update, we also fly up to the top of the farm to verify that everything is still working as per normal! Then, we pick up more raw cod from some temporary chests to sell for emeralds as well.
Seeing an exposed dirt block under a tree trunk, we dig out other blocks of dirt to cover it up! Then, we proceed back to the trading. Stopping by the storage room, we empty our Shulker box of items. We also craft a cartography table for our adventure, which is essential for crafting large maps!
With all our tools mended and our supplies replenished, we leave the mountain base behind for a great adventure! Alas, we have only walked a few steps when we realised we had forgotten something important. We turn around and head back to the base to pick up an Ender chest!
The Ender chest will give us access to all our extra tools and resources! Before we leave, we say goodbye to our Netherrack-holding Enderman. Along with the block of white grass, this Enderman is a relic from version 1.15 that you cannot get any more due to changes in the game!
In the morning, we set off for real! We try to avoid using our Elytra because we would have no good way to mend it in the wild. Rockets are also a limited resource for us! We make our way through Equinaro Valley where we had found our first horses of the world and continue forward into the dark forest.
Wherever there are mountain biomes, we stop and look around to see if there are any goats! Of course, the chunks we are passing through at the moment had all been generated back in 1.14, so we do not find any new mobs. Once we approach the border of our map, we know that we are heading into uncharted and unknown territory!
Standing beside a singular isolated mountain that looks quite distinctive, we end the episode since we have run out of time for today! We know it is quite anticlimactic, but this gives us a full episode of exploration in new chunks for tomorrow!
